A Sunrise And Thrift Finds

The other morning I woke up really early. If you know me then you know I am NOT a morning person, anything before 9:00 or 10:00 is early (I stay up late). So one can imagine that the sunrise is something I rarely see. It is kind of nice though, there is definitely a different feeling in the air. Especially here where it is so hot during the day, sunrise is a nice change of pace temperature wise. And of course it is pretty. There is just something magical about seeing things that you don't normally see.

The moon was even still out, and very bright.

It was a lot prettier than the big glowy blob I managed to capture, but you get the idea.

It was lovely. Okay so I went back to bed afterward, I am still me here, but it was nice.

Do you know what else is nice? Thrifting! Since I am living in a new town I have to suss out where all the good places to go thrifting are. It is a lot harder here because Tucson is so big you don't just drive by and notice places, which is what I used to do in McMinnville. Does anyone live in the area and know any good antique or thrift stores? At least Goodwill is not hard to find. I got some good treasures.

I got a tea cup. I know, I know, not very shocking considering my addiction to all things tea related. But this tea cup is different from the ones I already own. It has more of a 50s/60s vibe which I can't resist at the moment since I have been watching through all the seasons of Mad Men (I must be the last person on Earth to catch on to how awesome that show is). Anyway it is a nice style to add to my collection.

I also found a cute little plate. I have always wanted dishes with this type pattern (I know it has a specific name, but it is escaping me at the moment), and I just loved the scene on this one with the lady and gentleman and horse and castle.

I don't know why, but this bracelet intrigued me and I couldn't pass it up. It is just a plain metal bracelet with a single charm. The charm is a large basket that actually opens so you can put things inside if you want. Tiny things of course. You can tell that there used to be something glued on top, I wonder what it was? I am thinking about gluing something new on to cover the old glue. Do you think I should? Any ideas? (Sorry about how yellow the pictures are).

And last, but not least, I bought this adorable dress! I just love the fabric so much!

Thrifting is so much fun, I can't wait to find some other places to go around town!

  1. What a beautiful sunrise! I'd get up that early as well if I could find the AMAZING thrifted goodies like you did. How astounding! Theresa :)

  2. To start you can look on Thriftshopper.com or their FB page. They have a listing of thrift stores state by state.
I know a lot of the big junkers (pro junkers?) are headed to TX for a huge event right after MN (next week) and will be sharing tales of their best haunts. Yes, they actually do share their secret treasure sources.
I have never been anywhere near TX, but love investigating new places to hunt.
I think I would try heating up the old glue on the basket charm and removing as much s I could.
