Oktoberfest

This weekend I went to the annual Oktoberfest up on Mt. Lemmon. It was cloudy, and foggy, and downright chilly. Oh hallelujah! Finally a taste of real fall and some photos of my own to add to the Pinterest board in the last post.

Woodsmoke Over Misty Mountains

                                                                               {Harvest Moon}

Well here we are, the first day of Autumn. Not that you would know it here in Tucson where it is still in the 90s. Lately (okay, so almost the whole summer actually) I have been quite homesick. I yearn for forests and mountains, rain and the sea. Oh Oregon, how I miss thee. But being trapped in the desert all I can do is turn up the AC and dream of cooler days.

Fire In The Night

This week I was in a car accident. I am fine, the other person is fine, my car is not fine. It doesn't matter whose fault it was (the other person's), now my car is in the shop. I don't know for how long or if I might have to get a new car all together, needless to say, it has not been a good week.

It is experiences like these that make you appreciate the little things.

Pumpkin Everything

Yes, I am one of those people that loves pumpkin everything. What's that you say? It is pumpkin flavored? Why yes please, I would love some! This weekend I realized that I had a little sugar pumpkin left over from Halloween, so of course it was destined to become soup. I have been a bit obsessed with soup lately. It is so delicious, so warm (even though it is in the 80s here right now I am firmly in the fall mindset), so comforting, and there are so many possibilities! It has become my new favorite thing to cook because it is one of the few things that I feel comfortable just whipping up on my own without a recipe. If you have never made something without a recipe, you should seriously try it. If it turns out and tastes delicious, you feel like a total badass for having managed it all on your own without anyone else's help. If you are one of those confident people that have been doing this for years, then you already know what I mean, but if not you should go for it. Believe me, if I can do it you can do it!

Javelinas And Thank Yous

We had one pumpkin left after Halloween that we hadn't carved and it was still sitting out in front of our house until....

I realized what was happening because Mal was super restless so I thought he needed to go out. When we got to the front walk I noticed that the pumpkin was gone and I could see little wet hoof prints (it had rained). I made Mal go back inside because he freaks out around javelinas and then went back out to spy on them. They were so cute I didn't mind that they were having my pumpkin for dinner! They stole a neighbor's pumpkin too, that is why there are two in the photo.

So I have two huge-tastic thank yous to say today! One is for Cameron who helped me freshen up my blog. You may have noticed my new header. Isn't it great?! She was nice enough to make it for me!! (it probably didn't hurt that I bribed her with tea and stuff). Anyway, I love it! Thank you soooo much! I will probably change the background and colors and such eventually to go with it, but I don't think it looks too shabby with what is already there.

My second thank you is to the awesome Theresa. I won the giveaway for a great tea cup over at her blog. I was so excited about just the tea cup, but when the package came there was so much more!

Holy smokes! I was delighted. I love every bit of it! I am wearing the lovely necklace right now. And the tea cup is perfect for fall and fills a hole in my collection because I didn't really have any good fall ones. Thank you!

Tea Party And Oktoberfest

Well as usual I slacked off and didn't get a post up before I went on my trip this last weekend and then when I got back I got sick and so have been out for a few days. Anyhoo, here is some stuff that I wanted to post before I left. I don't have many pictures of the trip, they are mostly of the concert, but I can post some of those later if anyone is interested.

Fall inspired food and a mini fall tea party are delightful this time of year.

Fall Feelings And The Mummy Cat

Whew, here I am! I don't know what has happened, but lately I have been going so long between posts. I am just so busy between school and work and everything (I just applied for a library job!) Maybe I just need to accept that I am not a post-multiple-times-a-week type of blogger? I want to be, but I maybe I should just aim for once a week. The problem is even though I am not creating posts I am still taking photos of things and then the posts I want to do build up and become overwhelming! Fortunately I have material for several posts (including my birthday which was like two weeks ago) and all of next week off so I will do a bunch of little posts.

A couple days ago the fall spirit just hit me. It is still in the 90s here so fall comes a bit later than for some, but I just all of sudden got into the spirit (it may have had something to do with looking at Halloween stuff on Etsy). I thought it was too bad I couldn't put up my decorations, but then I realized wait a minute it is almost October! Somehow September got away from me a bit. I didn't want to go full Halloween yet, but I did put out some of my Fall decorations on my table.

Yay! Fall/Halloween decorations make me so happy. I cannot wait to put up the rest soon. I especially love the jar candle on the table which I just got and is an amazing spicy fall scent. More updates on decorations as they go up.

And now, for those interested in seeing the infamous mummy cat found under the porch of the house my parents are fixing up, just click the "read more" link below.
