Breakfast, Dinner And In Between

So I don't know why exactly, but I feel like the majority of the pictures I post are of food. I can't help it! I just like the way food looks (and tastes of course) and can never resist taking pictures. So this post will have, what else? Pictures of food. My three meals of the day: Breakfast, Afternoon Tea, and Dinner. And to be fair breakfast doesn't even make it in there a whole lot.

Breakfast:

*Things to note: That is tea not coffee in the mug, I don't drink coffee at all. No offense to people who do drink coffee of course, I just don't like the taste! If there are children reading this post be sure to not look too closely at what the bunnies on the mug are doing. Random I know. That mug lived at my parents house for as long as I can remember and it wasn't until they moved and I ended up with it that I realized what was going on there. Also, the tiny bit of glass in the top picture is another find from the Golden Goose. I had been wanting a  three-sectioned serving tray for scone condiments for a long time so I was excited to find this!

Afternoon Tea:

*Things to note: Afternoon tea counts as a meal for me because rarely do I really eat "lunch," and I pretty much always have a bit of a nosh with my afternoon cuppa. The scone in the pictures is buttermilk scallion which is the savory scone of the month from work, yum! Also newly acquired from work are little paper tea cup doilies to sop up spills. Cute, no?

Dinner:

*Things to note: The basil was from a friend's garden, the oregano was from my garden, the focaccia was from Beyond Bread, and the meal was simple and delicious.

And of course as promised a picture of Mal looking sad in his cone.

It is hard to carry off a name like Captain Malcolm Reynolds when you have to wear a degrading, plastic cone around your neck so that you can't lick your undercarriage! Sorry boy.

I was just looking at the photos on my camera and there seem to be quite a lot of Mal. I am definitely one of those furry parents who takes a photo every time their furry does something they think is cute (which is usually most everything). I might just have to post them all soon, so watch out!

Hearts,
alia

ps. Sometimes people leave me comments saying that they would want to come have tea with me. Now I don't know if they really mean it, but believe me, I would love nothing more than to have more people than just myself to do fancy tea things for. So I am now officially inviting all of you, my bloggy friends, to come over and have tea! I know most of you live far away, but if you are ever in Tucson just let me know and I will, no joke, have you over to my house and ply you with tea and scones and all manner of other goodness until you can barely move! Okay if that sounded a little threatening it wasn't meant to. What I mean is I will show you a good tea-time!

Saturday And Sunday

One of my favorite places to have tea is the comfy window seat nook in my bedroom. It is quite large and sunny, and after I went on a full-out-bedroom-cleaning-tear today, it was especially nice and dust free.

The nice thing about having many tea pots, tea cups, and tea accessories is that I can choose which ones I want to use based on my mood that day. Today I was feeling a bit nautical crossed with English countryside. So I chose a nautical tea pot, an Englishy plate, and a sunny yellow tea cup (rescued from Chantilly, they were just going to throw it away because it was a little worn and chipped!)

The apple fritter was a surprise treat from Mister B. He has only recently decided he likes coffee (and I only drink tea) so we don't actually own a coffeemaker. This means that he has to go across the street to the coffee shop when the mood strikes him. For some reason this time he decided to bring me home a treat! I was surprised and pleased.

The guy you see peeking in that last photo was also from Mister B. He doesn't usually buy me a ton of unnecessary things for no reason. This is good for two reasons, first: I don't really need a ton of unnecessary things, and second: it makes it extra special when he does! We were recently at the grocery store and I took a very strong fancy to this huge, cuddly, lamb. I was ranting about how cute he was and how much I loved him, and out of nowhere Mister B decided he was going to get it for me. I know it sounds silly, but I was SO excited! I had a huge smile on my face for the rest of the night. Oh and I love my lamb. He is adorable, but also quite functional as he is the perfect size for a big comfortable back pillow.

There were a bunch, but I picked the one with the wrinkliest face because I thought he was the cutest. I haven't decided what to name him yet. What do you think? Any good name ideas? He fits right in on my window seat where some of my other cuddles sit in the sun.

Speaking of sitting in the sun....

haha, Cuppa Tea will get into any position if it means soaking up those warm rays. Did I mention he also makes silly faces?

So that was my Sunday, now let's work backwards to Saturday.

I think that my nautical/English countryside feeling of today was inspired by Sarah over at A Beach Cottage. Her blog is SUPER lovely and so nice to visit. I just discovered the Saturday Club last night, but only after coincidentally having a perfect Saturday Club kid of day. The highlight of my Saturday was going to an estate sale and finding this beauty (which for those of you familiar with her blog, fits right in over at A Beach Cottage).

Lovely no? I also got this awesome vintage airline lighter still in the box, and a wonderful book about carousels. Good tea time reading!

Well that was my weekend. Hope yours was splendid too!

Happy St. Patty's Day! And I Found The Pot Of Gold....

....well it isn't quite a pot, but close enough!

So awesome right?! We just got a batch of vintage tea cups in today and it was my job to price them and put them out. Most of the ones I really wanted were the expensive ones (I guess I have good taste in tea cups?), but this one was SUPER cheap, I think because it is so crazy and doesn't have a maker's mark (it just says Germany on the bottom). I normally prefer silver to gold, but this was just so ostentatious I couldn't resist! I mean every lady pirate needs a gold treasure tea cup to drink her tea with rum out of right? Good ol' Chantilly, making me spend money again.

And speaking of Chantilly we have a lot of Irish themed food there right now for the month of March and yesterday for an early St. Patrick's Day lunch I brought this home to have with tea.

It is honey-lime chicken salad, with an Irish soda bread muffin and Irish butter on the side. Oh man, let me tell you about this butter! So I always thought that all butter tasted pretty much the same, right? Wrong! This is a weird thing to say, but that butter was the best butter I have EVER had. It was delicious! I can not even describe how yummy it was with the muffin. I wish I could send you some so you could try it, I just know you would love it too.

Okay sorry, butter rant over. Here are some more photos of my St. Patty's tea. Note that I used all my green accessories.

Cuppa Tea really wanted some too.

And what afternoon tea would be complete without an issue of Victoria?

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The Golden Goose And Milk Bags

I recently discovered a great second hand/thrift store in Catalina, which is up the road just a bit from where I live in Tucson. It is called The Golden Goose, and my maiden voyage there produced what I thought were quite good results! It is easier for me to get to from my house than Goodwill, and they have new stuff in almost every day so there are lots of different things to see. A new place to shop, yay!

Here is what I purchased:

A story about two pirates (I love pirates)...

a Christmasy apron with jingle bells...

a retro outfit/dress (which I think looks super cute on, but maybe that is just me)...

and the best thing of all, a really comfy recliner chair with adorable fabric and in practically brand new condition!

Sorry about the blanket in the photo, but I have to keep it on there a lot because as you can see, the cats love my new chair and are sleeping on it almost constantly! I guess that is just proves how comfy it is, cats know a cozy spot when they see one. Oh man, I am lovin' this chair!

I also wanted to share this awesome vintage photograph I bought at the shop featured a couple posts ago. I love all things Victorian and I couldn't resist buying this. It was only five bucks for goodness sake!

Well that is pretty much it for today.

Oh wait I almost forgot! I wanted to share this shopping list Mister B found at Target (he is working there while getting his Masters in education).

It starts out pretty normal, but then takes a bit of a confusing turn. Boogie shoes? Is that like shoes for dancing? And what the heck is a milk bag?! If anyone knows, please share, I am quite curious!

Tea And Vintagey Goodness

First I wanted to share my tea from today because I got some new things, yay! All from the tea room I work at of course.

A cute chicken creamer.

Drip catchers for my teapot! So classy.

Scones from work and jam and Devon cream to put on them. (The chocolatey looking things are rum balls that I made.)

A certain lap monster knew she was going to get a treat.

Tea choice today was Monk's Blend: black tea with vanilla and grenadine flavor, yum.

Now on to the store Toni (see last post) works and sells stuff at. I think the photos speak for themselves.

So lovely right?! I could (and did) spend hours looking at everything. And the best part is usually really cute stores are super expensive, but everything there was so reasonably priced I could buy lots of things, and I am a poor student! So if you are ever in Redmond, Oregon, The Back Porch is definitely worth a visit.
