Attention Tea Lovers!

Attention fellow lovers of tea, I have something to tell you! I just received some new teas that I ordered from Island Tea Company and they are delicious! Island Tea Company is an awesome little company based in Washington. They used to have a tea shop on Whidbey Island (which I always really wanted to go to, but never got the chance), but it just recently closed and now they sell only online. Their teas are so lovely and yummy and very reasonably priced, and I don't know about you, but I would rather buy some tea from an independent company with wonderful customer service than big name brands at the store. Here are the teas I just bought:

Here are the individual teas and description taken from the website.

Mutiny Bay Blend
Whidbey Island has many lovely beaches, but Mutiny Bay is considered by many to be one of the loveliest. Wrap your hands around a mug of our Mutiny Bay Blend and imagine yourself sitting on this sugar sand beach, enjoying a spectacular sunset and the majestic Olympic Mountains. Mutiny Bay Blend is a blend of black teas and nutty oolong with just a touch of jasmine. A lovely tea to enjoy in the afternoon or evening.

Russian Caravan
A full-flavored Chinese Black tea with a sweet, smoky note created by wood fires.  This tea steeps up strong and bold, and is perfect with milk and sugar.  Not as smoky as pine smoked Lapsang Souchong.

Let me tell you, they are not lying when they say this is smoky. Whoo boy I wish you could smell it. It is very strong, but I love it!

Peaceful Mind
Rooibos blended with coconut bits and French lavender buds creates a soothing, gently sweet, caffeine free beverage.  A perfect tea to enjoy in the evening, before bed, or anytime you need a touch of tranquility.  Intriguing aroma and delicious flavor.  Excellent hot or iced.

This one smells like a Mounds bar because of the coconut. I haven't tried it yet, but I know it will be yummy.

And last, but not least, the one I am most excited about.

Grandma's Pumpkin Pie
A yummy black tea with sweet spices, vanilla, dried pumpkin bits and a scattering of little orange pumpkin sprinkles.  This is an absolutely delicious tea.  Reminds us of pumpkin creme brulee!  We enjoy it black, or with milk and a little sweetener.  For a special presentation add a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon!

This REALLY smells like pumpkin pie.....mmmm....it is sooo good. The tea is not as strong tasting as the smell, but it is just delicious. It is a seasonal tea, so give it a try before it is gone!

It goes perfectly with my festive tea pot!

So if you are interested you should buy some tea from them, the owner Dori, is so sweet (she responds to questions and writes personal notes of thanks) and right now is giving away a free sample of a tea of your choice (there is a list to choose from) with every purchase! The Peaceful Mind was the sample I chose. So head on over to the website, or check out the Island Tea Company Blog, and peruse with a cuppa to your hearts content.

Cheers!

  3. Sounds wonderful - especially the Grandma's Pumpkin Pie. I agree about buying tea from individual sellers. We use Special Teas, which is located here in Connecticut. Our favorite is the Earl Grey - a common tea blend but this one smells heavenly! Theresa

  4. The teas sound wonderful and, you're so right about supporting small local business..I love strong teas and tranquil and...oh, all the ones you chose, it sounds like!

I just found your blog a week ago from the Practical Magic party site, and I was SO happy to read about you! You see, I lived in Tucson most of my life (am now in Mississippi and liking it very much) and got my undergrad degree from UofA. You're from WA? I visited a very good friend who lived in Sequim (near Port Angeles)and went to high TEA after a ferry ride to Vancouver Island! I am a huge pirates and Halloween fan and have always loved cats! It's very nice to 'meet' you...we don't have our ages in common, but I don't act mine (50) a lot of the time, anyhow!

Oh, I know, (tee-hee), I love Miss V's Fanciful Twist site, too. She doesn't live far from you, you know ;o)

Take care and good luck on your grad studies.
    See you soon...
    Elizabeth
